About Me
Philosophy
The mission of my practice is to assist people to manage their lives successfully and reach their potential. The process involves active participation of the patient's support system.
I provide a comprehensive evaluation of psychiatric illness and treatment plans using a multi-modal approach with medication management, individual psychotherapy, and family therapy.
My practice is holistic by creating a comprehensive care treatment plan around the person's needs and wants.
My Story
As a native Texan from San Antonio, my inspiration is my late father, Robert Leon MD, who was the founding Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. He taught me the importance of strength of spirit and emotions.
I am a medical doctor with over 20 years of experience who specializes in the treatment of psychiatric illness in children, adolescents, adults and families. Therapy is tailored to the patient's needs using cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, psycho-dynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, and prescribing medications when indicated. My practice involves comprehensive care where I communicate with family members, teachers, other doctors, and the patient to create a holistic treatment.
Raising three children gives me a personal as well as a professional perspective on the challenges of parenting. As an active participant in Austin's psychiatric community, I served as President of Austin Psychiatric Society, mentoring residents in the psychiatric program and providing school consultation.
